Dad saves son from flying baseball bat to the face

It is March and that means major leaguers are hitting the fields for Spring Training all over the States. This means father and son afternoons spent in ball parks with hot dogs and cracker jacks. It also means pop flies, which usually is a reference to a foul ball soaring into the stands, but during a recent Pittsburgh Pirates Cactus League game this father and son had a close encounter of a different kind.

While the Pirates were up to bad, one of them swung a little too vigorously and lost a handle on their bat, sending it flying into the stands.

The bat flew into the stands heading right at a child who was too preoccupied with his phone and did not see it coming. Good thing his father was paying attention, and had reflexes that should merit him a spot on the Pirates Spring Training roster. The dad reached out and blocked the bat from hitting his son and earned them both an on-air meeting with Michael Strahan.
